The origins of Nauticat UK are tied up with our Chairman Leonardo da Costa Sayago,
who came from the land of Henry the Navigator, Portugal, to study naval architecture in the north of England in 1963.

After qualifying, Leo settled in Southampton, where he worked at the prestigious design offices of Camper & Nicholsons and Angus Primrose, before starting his own design office.

In 1981 Leo was offered the distribution rights to Nauticat OY, a relationship which has now lasted 25 years, something which is extremely rare in the yachting industry.
